The Baltimore Orioles on Thursday announced they will recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day on Friday, according to a news release.
All uniformed personnel at Oriole Park at Camden Yards will wear orange jerseys and the warehouse will be illuminated in orange throughout the weekend for "Wear Orange." Wear Orange was founded in 2015 after Hadiya Pendleton's friends wore orange to honor her life, a 16-year-old girl who was fatally shot in 2013 on a playground in Chicago.
The Orioles will also hold a moment of silence prior to the game against the Cleveland Guardians on Friday in memory of those who lost their lives to gun violence.
