The Orioles plan to announce Thursday the hiring of former major league outfielder Mark Quinn as the team's next assistant hitting coach, according to an industry source.
Quinn, who played parts of four major league seasons with the Kansas City Royals, has most recently been running one of the top hitting academies in the country, The Baseball School in Houston.
He will fill the spot vacated by Einar Diaz, who moved over to become a bullpen catcher when Rudy Arias’ contract was not renewed. Quinn will work with current Orioles hitting coach Scott Coolbaugh.
