Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy revealed Thursday that he has been playing the entire season with a torn labrum in his left non-throwing shoulder.
Hardy said he does not plan to have surgery in the offseason. Instead, he plans to rest the shoulder initially, then strengthen it in the offseason in preparation for year. In 2004 as a minor leaguer, Hardy had major surgery on the same shoulder that included repairing his labrum and said he does not want to go through that procedure again.
“I’m just going to get it stronger,’’ Hardy said. “That’s the plan. Just get it stronger.
