The Orioles placed second baseman Jonathan Schoop on the 10-man disabled list with a right oblique strain before Saturday’s game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Schoop, who was replaced on defense in the eighth inning of the Orioles’ 7-3 loss on Friday, suffered the injury while swinging on his final at bat of the night.
The club had to make a roster move to make 25-man space for right-hander Alex Cobb, who will make his Orioles debut today against the Rasmus.
Schoop went for an MRI on Saturday morning to determine the severity of the injury.
