Orioles right-hander Tyler Wilson hadn’t pitched in a major league game in 24 days before entering Tuesday’s interleague contest with the Colorado Rockies. One day after his last start on July 2 in Seattle – when he allowed eight runs over three innings – the team sent him to Triple-A Norfolk so the rookie could get some midseason rest.
In his return to the big league club, Wilson might have found himself a niche in the bullpen. He retired all four batters he faced in the Orioles' 6-3 loss, tossing four perfect innings in relief of Chris Tillman, and saving the team’s late-inning arms for another night.
