Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman received a cortisone injection today for lingering shoulder tendinitis and will miss his next scheduled spring training start.
When Gausman will next pitch is unknown, but Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Gausman had been receiving treatment for shoulder inflammation for the last seven to 10 days. The decision was made to give Gausman an injection so it would give him enough time to recover and be ready for the regular season.
Gausman, who was scheduled to pitch in a minor league game on Monday, won’t be able to pick up a baseball for the next two or three days as the injection’s effect takes course.
