Orioles-Red Sox series opener goes to rain delay seven pitches into first inning

The Orioles and Boston Red Sox kicked off what is expected to be a soggy three-game series with a rain delay just seven pitches and two minutes into Monday’s game at Camden Yards.

Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman retired Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi quickly and was ahead 0-2 on slugger J.D. Martinez when the downpour began and the grounds crew called for the tarp.

Red Sox starter Rick Porcello had warmed up and was ready for the first inning as well.
