As expected, the Orioles optioned right-hander Tyler Wilson to Triple-A Norfolk to make room to call up right-hander Kevin Gausman for Thursday's start against the Texas Rangers.
Wilson, 25, was called up Wednesday to provide depth in the bullpen and did not appear in the game. The rookie is 1-1 with a 2.12 ERA in five appearances (one start) with the Orioles this season.
Gausman, 24, has gone 1-0 with a 4.24 ERA in nine games (one start) with the Orioles this season. He has posted a 1.64 ERA while walking one and striking out nine over his last five major league appearances.
