Cody Sedlock – 22 years old and the Orioles 1st round pick, number 27 overall, in the June 2016 Amateur Draft from the University of Illinois – just completed his second year in Baltimore’s system. 2017 was in the Carolina League with the Frederick Keys, following 2016 as a member the Aberdeen IronBirds in the New York-Penn League.
After a strong start to 2017, including his first professional win on April 8, it is safe to say this past the past season did not go as planned. On August 25, Sedlock was shut down and placed on the disabled list with what GM Dan Duquette described as a “muscle strain” with “tightness in his forearm.
