During spring training, the Baltimore Orioles brought back Chris Tillman to an incentive-laden one-year deal, hoping he can reclaim the skills that made him effective prior to what had been a career-worst 2017 season.
That's not going to happen. Tillman, who has been on the disabled list since May 11 with a lower back strain, was activated on Friday and promptly designated for assignment. That means the team has 10 days to put him on waivers, trade him or release him.
The Orioles have selected the contract of INF Renato Núñez from Triple-A Norfolk and RHP Chris Tillman has been reinstated from the 10-day disabled list and has been designated for assignment.
