Orioles outfielder Craig Gentry, who was the team's feel-good story in spring training and made the club as a nonroster invitee after dealing with concussion problems for years, was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk Tuesday to create a roster spot for catcher Welington Castillo.
Gentry was a useful bench piece in the first month-plus of the season, appearing in 33 of the Orioles’ 36 games, though he started just nine. Otherwise, he appeared as a late-inning pinch runner or defensive replacement as the team shored up its corner outfield coverage and got some of its slower sluggers off the basepaths.
