Just before the baseball world unofficially shut down for the holidays, the Orioles made their two-year, $7 million deal with South Korean outfielder Hyun-soo Kim official, announcing the deal Wednesday afternoon.
Kim, who turns 28 in January, has been in Baltimore since late last week in order for the team to conduct a physical to complete the deal.
By adding Kim, who spent the past nine-plus years as one of the top hitters in the Korean Baseball Organization, the Orioles are looking to improve their on-base capabilities while filling one of their corner-outfield holes with a much-needed left-handed bat.
