Baltimore Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold has filed a lawsuit alleging negligent medical care at Johns Hopkins Hospital, claiming he was cleared to resume play too quickly after spinal surgery, causing additional damage.
Reimold, 31, got off to a hot start in early 2012 but was diagnosed with a herniated disk and had surgery in June of that year. The suit alleges that a neurosurgeon at Hopkins cleared him to play before his neck bones were fused.
"I had no idea that every game I played caused me further injury because my bones weren't fused," Reimold said in a statement from the Murphy Firm, which is representing him.
