Orioles slugger Mark Trumbo was out of the starting lineup for the fourth straight game on Sunday, but he was available off the bench for the team’s series finale against Tampa Bay, manager Buck Showalter said.
Trumbo’s bulky right knee, which he aggravated sliding into second base during a four-hit effort Tuesday in Chicago, has responded well to a cortisone injection, and Showalter believes Trumbo to be able to return to the starting lineup for the Orioles’ afternoon Memorial Day game on Monday at Camden Yards.
“I expect him to be a player [Monday],” Showalter said.
