The Orioles made a flurry of roster moves Monday afternoon before their series opener against the Kansas City Royals, among them placing shortstop J.J. Hardy on the 15-day disabled list with a left groin strain and designating veteran outfielder Nolan Reimold for assignment.
The team also reinstated first baseman/outfielder Steve Pearce from the 15-day disabled list and recalled right-handed reliever Jorge Rondon from Triple-A Norfolk.
The Orioles open their four-game series in Kansas City — the first time they've played the Royals since being swept in the American League Championship Series — with an extra bullpen arm and a three-man bench.
