While the bullpen is the Orioles’ biggest strength entering the offseason, the club would like to add a left-handed power arm to the relief corps, executive vice president Dan Duquette said Monday at baseball’s winter meetings.
“That’s on our radar,” Duquette said. “We have one left-handed power reliever [closer Zach Britton]. The others are more finesse from the left side. If we could get a harder-throwing left-handed reliever, that’s something we’re looking at.”
Britton and right-handed setup man Brad Brach are drawing trade interest this week.
Concentrating on catching: Even though he’s pleased with the duo of top prospect Sisco and veteran Caleb Joseph behind the plate, Duquette said the Orioles would like to add to their catching depth this offseason.
