When Orioles right-hander Yovani Gallardo returned from the disabled list Saturday, he had considerably higher velocity on all of his pitches.
Gallardo allowed two runs over five innings in the Orioles' 4-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays, his first start since leaving an April 22 outing after just two innings with shoulder discomfort.
On Saturday, Gallardo’s four-seam fastball averaged 91.22 mph, the highest velocity of his five starts this season and his highest overall since averaging 91.96 mph Sept. 18, when pitching for the Texas Rangers against the Seattle Mariners.
