The Orioles made a play for Korean slugger Byung-ho Park, but they were outbid, according to an industry source.
Park, 29, was posted by his Korean team, the Nexen Heroes, who on Friday accepted a $12.85 million bid from an unnamed Major League Baseball franchise.
That club has 30 days to agree to a contract with Park. If he does not sign during that period, he will not be able to play in the majors for at least a year. The bid-winning MLB team would not have to pay anything to the Heroes if Park doesn’t sign.
