In one of those “this could only happen in the minor leagues” games, the Tides drew ten walks. Ten! Eight were issued by Knights starter Michael Kopech in just three-plus innings. Kopech also hit two batters and unloaded five wild pitches. That’s just plain ridiculous.
As a result, the Tides left 13 men on base, but they scored enough to hold off a late charge by Charlotte. DJ Stewart was 0-2 but still upped his OBP with three walks. Recently-activated Steve Wilkerson was 2-3, also helping his OBP with a walk and a hit by pitch. The O’s had Wilkerson playing in left field, because I guess they don’t think that the MLB squad has enough infielders thrust out into the outfield.
