In recent days, I have seen multiple Orioles beat writers reference the success of Norfolk as some positive for the organization. It was not a banner day for the Tides at all. They only got five hits, although they also walked four times, which made for a few scoring chances - all of which they blew.
The Gambler, Eddie Gamboa, pitched 6.2 innings for Norfolk, and left the game having only allowed two runs... unfortunately for Gamboa, he left two men on base also and Dana Eveland (yes, that one) pulled a Matusz with the inherited runners, though in un-Matuszian fashion, Eveland also allowed his own runners to score.
