The Tides got pummeled in the middle innings and Durham recovered from an early deficit to secure an easy victory. Norfolk got on the board early thanks to a flurry of singles to start the game. Terrin Vavra, Daniel Johnson and Nike Goodrum opened up the bottom of the 1st with three consecutive singles, with Goodrum’s grounder through the left side scoring Vavra from second. Then, with one out and Johnson on third, TT Bowens grounded a ball to third and the Bulls failed to cut Johnson down at the plate, giving the Tides a 2-0 lead.
That lead would be short-lived thanks to a rough day for the Norfolk pitching staff.
