Norfolk fended off a late comeback from the Stripers to hang on for the win. Five Norfolk pitchers pitched on Sunday, including Brandon Young, who earned the win with a 5.2-inning, one-run, four-hit effort. Matt Krook faced just one batter and struck him out. Come the seventh, Nick Avila had a rough day, surrendering a three-run triple after walking two. Matt Bowman had a great outing, though, throwing 1.2 innings and striking out three. In the ninth, Luis González nearly gave up the game, allowing a two-run home run to Gwinnett’s Drake Baldwin, but he got the last out in the nick of time.
