Chris Tillman continued his rehab struggles with another “meh” performance in the minors. The former “staff ace” of the Orioles allowed four runs through six innings in a losing effort. Tillman surrendered nine hits, walked two and did not record a strike out. He could have been pitching to contact, but not striking out a single triple-A hitter through six innings is a bit of a red flag.
Norfolk did make things interesting late in the game. After Pedro Alvarez plated Luis Sardinas in the first inning, the Tides did not score until picking up two more in the ninth.
