Mark Trumbo continued his effort to get healthy by playing right field and hitting a two-run homer in the Tides loss. Ryan Mountcastle added a pair of singles and a walk. Mason Williams went 2-for-5. On the flip side, Austin Hays had a tough 0-for-5 with two strikeouts, and D.J. Stewart was 0-for-3 with a walk and a punch out.
Chandler Shepherd’s difficult season continued. He lasted five innings but served up eight runs (six earned) on 13 hits, two walks and seven strikeouts. Evan Phillips trotted in from the bullpen first and did no better.
