Starting pitcher Justin Armbruester was outstanding last night, pitching six shutout innings with five strikeouts. He gave up just four hits and didn’t walk a batter. Armbruester has had a tough time in Triple-A this season. He came into this game with an ERA of 9.20 in 14 starts.
The potent Tides’ offense took a night off, clocking just two hits through all 11 innings of this game. They were both singles, one each by Daniel Johnson and Billy Cook. The team did take three walks, including one by Coby Mayo.
Relief pitchers Ryan Hennen and Nolan Hoffman pitched five scoreless innings and in the 11th inning the Tides finally prevailed without getting a hit.
