Norfolk trimmed the lead to two with a pair of runs in the fifth inning, but Gwinnett added three more runs against reliever Trey McGough. Norfolk starter Tucker Davidson allowed an RBI-double in the second before coughing up a three-run homer in the third inning. Wandisson Charles and Corbin Martin both tossed scoreless innings to finish out the game.
Jackson Holliday nearly killed the rally with a double play in the fifth, but both Heston Kjerstad and Billy Cook worked two out walks. The Tides scored their first run on a wild pitch, and Nick Maton earned Norfolk’s only RBI with a single to left field.
