The Tides held a four-run advantage heading into the eighth inning, and picked up four more insurance runs between the final two frames. As it turned out, they would need the extra runs. The Stripers scored five in the bottom of the eighth, and one more in the ninth, but Norfolk held on for a 9-7 victory.
Mason Williams went 2-5 with a homer, while Chance Sisco and Christopher Bostick also had multi-hit evenings. Jace Peterson stole the show with a 3-5 performance and two runs batted in. All nine of Norfolk’s hitters, including Cedric Mullins, Joey Rickard and Anthony Santander, hit safely at least once.
