Gabriel Ynoa had quite a night to kick off his 2019 season. The right-hander no-hit the Gwinnett Stripers through five innings before being removed with a pitch count of 76. He struck out seven batters in those five innings and walked two.
Unfortunately, the Tides bullpen was unable to preserve the no-hitter. But they were able to preserve the shutout. Norfolk reliever Evan Phillips gave up a hit to the first batter he saw in the sixth, but he combined with Branden Kline and Luis Gonzalez to shut down the Stripers for the final four innings of the game.
