The Tides have some great hitters and they also have some real pitching problems, both of which are in evidence nearly on a nightly basis. This one brought some excitement in that Heston Kjerstad and Coby Mayo had back-to-back homers in the first inning of the game, temporarily giving the Tides a lead. Mayo actually hit two homers in the game, giving him five over Norfolk’s first 13 games. Kjerstad’s dinger was his seventh. Not bad!
That was pretty much it for offense for the Tides for the game, though. The rest of the lineup added just two hits to what Kjerstad and Mayo tallied, with Connor Norby taking an 0-4.
