Orioles' Mark Trumbo has a night to remember in another game to forget

When Orioles designated hitter Mark Trumbo singled home Adam Jones in the seventh inning of Saturday night’s 3-1 loss to the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park, the hit carried a lot of personal significance and brought back a cherished memory.

It was the 1,000th hit of his career and it came in the same stadium where he got his first major league hit way back on Oct. 3, 2010 — in his last of 15 September at-bats on the last day of the season.

Trumbo, 32, remembers the first one well, because he wondered at the time of that first hit if he would ever get another.
