Orioles manager Buck Showalter has been hit with the flu bug that has swept through the team’s clubhouse over the past week and might not manage Wednesday’s game against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Showalter had not reported to Yankee Stadium. If he is unable to manage the game, bench coach John Russell will fill in.
First baseman Chris Davis missed the past two games with a stomach virus after getting sick on the team flight from Tampa Bay on Sunday night.
Also, catcher Matt Wieters and closer Zach Britton returned from the All-Star Game in San Diego sick.
