Orioles Make It Official, Name Brandon Hyde New Manager

After denying initial reports, the Baltimore Orioles have announced Brandon Hyde will succeed Buck Showalter as the team's new manager.

Hyde, who most recently served as the Chicago Cubs bench coach, has spent 16 years as a coach, following four as a player. He will be introduced to the Baltimore media on Monday at Camden Yards.

“After conducting an intensive search, I believe that we have found the ideal leader for the next era of Orioles baseball,” Mike Elias, the team's executive vice president and general manager, said in a statement. “Brandon’s deep background in player development and Major League coaching, most recently helping to shape the Cubs into a World Champion, has thoroughly prepared him for this job and distinguished him throughout our interview process.
