After more than a week awaiting official word, the Orioles have announced the signing of reliever Darren O’Day to a four-year deal.
To make room for him on the 40-man roster, the club designated infielder Rey Navarro for assignment. The 25-year-old Navarro played in just 10 games for the Orioles in 2015, hitting .276 with two doubles and a homer.
O’Day, 33, has pitched for the Orioles for four seasons, going 23-8 with an impressive 1.92 ERA over that span. Last year, the sidearming right-hander made his first All-Star team while posting a career-best 1.
