The Orioles have lost outfielder/designated hitter Jimmy Paredes to a waiver claim from the Toronto Blue Jays, the team announced Monday.
The Orioles couldn’t find a 25-man roster spot for Paredes, whose minor league rehab assignment expired after Sunday’s game at Triple-A Norfolk, so they attempted to slide him through waivers. But Paredes was claimed before he could clear waivers, which has now happened three times in his 10-year professional career.
Paredes opened the season on the disabled list after suffering a left wrist sprain while attempting to make a diving catch in right field during an early-March spring training game.
