Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman, who was primed to crack the Opening Day rotation for the first time in his promising career, could miss the beginning of the season recovering from right shoulder tendinitis.
Gausman received a cortisone shot Sunday for lingering shoulder inflammation that has been bothering him for the previous seven to 10 days. The team hoped that the timing of the shot would give him enough time to recover to return for the beginning of the regular season.
Gausman said Tuesday morning that he’s targeting a return in the first or second week of the season.
