Orioles' J.J. Hardy understands that his struggles at the plate aren't just bad luck

J.J. Hardy doesn't believe in luck on a ballfield, and worse, the Orioles' veteran shortstop knows what it means when people start talking about how unlucky someone has been at the plate.

So when the topic comes up in relation to a ball he hits that seems to find a glove on the warning track, or finds a fielder right where he stands, Hardy understands the unfortunate context.

"It's more magnified when you're scuffling and you finally hit a ball good and it happens to be at someone," he said. "It's because everyone starts paying attention and starts realizing your scuffles, and starts wishing it will fall for you as much as I wish it would fall.
