Whether the Orioles end up doing anything else on the last day before baseball’s non-waiver trade deadline is to be settled over the last hour. However, it does sound like they at least have been talking to try to get something done. The Baltimore Sun’s Eduardo Encina reported that the O’s have been having late discussions involving possible trades for either Jonathan Schoop or Kevin Gausman.
You don’t get any points or prospects for talking, of course, but it’s encouraging enough just to know that the team is aware that it is probably better positioned for the future if they’re able to move players who have more team control left than just this season.
