Through the season's first three weks, the Orioles' middle infield already had been wrecked by injuries. Now the team could be forced to add infielder Ryan Flaherty to a growing list of players on the 15-day disabled list.
Flaherty suffered a right groin strain running from first to second base on the final play of the Orioles’ 4-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.
The Orioles are already without starting shortstop J.J. Hardy (left shoulder strain) and second baseman Jonathan Schoop (partial posterior cruciate ligament tear and medial collateral ligament sprain in right knee), so the loss of Flaherty would test the team’s infield depth.
