The Orioles Wednesday announced they have finalized the signing of Korean free agent outfielder Hyun Soo Kim.
Kim signed a two-year, $7 million deal in Baltimore. He will be the first Korean-born player to play for the big league club. The Orioles signed pitcher Suk-min Yoon in 2014, but he never played in the majors, and eventually opted to return to South Korea.
Through an interpreter, Kang said he was "very happy that he is now a major leaguer and now can play for Baltimore Orioles."
He said the Orioles' heavy interest wooed him to Baltimore.
