Orioles designated hitter Pedro Álvarez left Thursday's game with a "hamstring spasm/cramp," manager Buck Showalter said.
Showalter relayed that head athletic trainer Brian Ebel believes it's "just a cramp," that Álvarez could have and would have continued, but was removed as a precaution.
"Just didn't want to take a chance with it," Showalter said. "The first time we had a little humidity here. I'm hoping that's what it was, but we'll see what it's like tomorrow."
Álvarez legged out a ground ball and beat the throw to first on an attempted double-play in the fourth inning, a frame in which the Orioles scored four times en route to a 9-6 lead.
