Major League Baseball on Wednesday named Baltimore Orioles closer Félix Bautista the American League Reliever of the Month for April.
Bautista, 27, made 14 appearances in the month of April. During that time, he went 2-1 with seven saves in eight opportunities.
During the 14 games, Bautista allowed just nine hits with a 1.42 earned run average. He has also notched 25 strikeouts, which currently leads the majors.
Bautista's seven saves are tied for third in the AL, and fifth in the league.
This is Bautista's first time to win the award. He became the second Orioles pitcher to be named AL Reliever of the Month since Jim Johnson in May 2012.
