NEW YORK -- Led by two homers from catcher Matt Wieters, the Orioles took matters into their own hands, punching their ticket with a 5-2 series victory over the Yankees in Sunday's regular-season finale. The victory ensured the O's a spot as a Wild Card.
Should Toronto, which was playing Boston, win its game over the Red Sox, the Blue Jays and Orioles would face off in the Wild Card Game on Tuesday at Rogers Centre. The O's would host the Wild Card Game if Toronto loses. Detroit, which entered the day 1 1/2 games back of both teams, would have to beat Atlanta on Sunday and get a loss from Toronto to stay alive in the race.
