The milestone is a bit unflattering, but it’s attainable. With two hits Sunday and his batting average at .177, its highest point since May 5, Chris Davis has a path to climbing to .200 before the end of the season.
The Orioles’ fallen slugger isn’t targeting that or any other number, but after what’s been his most consistently productive stretch of the season, finishing the season with anything to feel good about would be a boon entering the winter.
“It would mean a lot,” Davis said. “My goal really the last couple of months was to stick with my plan and just continue to work and try to build some momentum going into the offseason.
