Orioles first baseman Chris Davis acknowledged Saturday at FanFest that the thumb injury manager Buck Showalter cited at the end of last season really did have an impact on his 2016, even though he denied it at the time.
Davis said he dislocated his left thumb early in the season, but was steadfast that he played through it.
“A lot of that was my doing,” Davis said. “I knew that it wasn’t right, I knew that it wasn’t 100 percent, but I didn’t want to just sit around and hang out. I felt like as far as our team was concerned, defensively I was picking guys up.
