You know what? The Orioles have faced criticism lately for being inconsistent at the dish, their manager Brandon Hyde blamed specifically for over-playing the matchups (otherwise how else to explain a Sunday lineup featuring light-hitting shortstop Jorge Mateo in center field?).
But on Monday night, the Birds convincingly answered both criticisms in a late-night win in Arizona. For one thing, against Arizona right hander Zac Gallen, the righty-lefty matchups worked brilliantly. From the top of the lineup, Gunnar Henderson went 2-for-4 with a walk and two stolen bases. Adley Rutschman singled, walked, and drove in a run.
