The Baltimore Orioles Chief Executive Officer and Chairman John Angelos spoke with The New York Times on the lease talks with Camden Yards and other issues.
Angelos said he is confident a new lease will be reached with Maryland by the end of the year. He also said an agreement could be reached on the development of land around the ballpark, which could include an entertainment district and even a school within the warehouse.
“People will speak about Baltimore like, ‘Wow, Baltimore is cutting-edge,’ which is what they said about Camden Yards,” Angelos said. “If we develop it right, and we include that impactful community program module, we can change the whole brand of Baltimore.
