Right-hander Odrisamer Despaigne has joined the Orioles in Boston, and was called up Tuesday to take the roster spot of right-handed reliever Vance Worley, who went on the 15-day disabled list with a right groin strain.
The roster move was made retroactive to Monday.
Despaigne, 29, was acquired this past offseason from the San Diego Padres after making 50 major league appearances (34 starts) from 2014 to 2015. He has spent the season with Triple-A Norfolk, going 1-6 with a 3.59 ERA, but has been especially good lately.
Despiagne has allowed five runs in 27 2/3 innings over his past five starts for a 1.
