The time has come – one day before the September call ups and the Orioles have selected the contract of their top prospect, infielder Gunnar Henderson.
It was announced yesterday the team was flying him and pitcher D.L. Hall out to Cleveland to join the taxi squad, but decided to promote Henderson for tonight’s game.
The MLB’s No. 2 prospect overall will wear the number two on his jersey during his major league debut. (J.J. Hardy was the last to don that number on the Orioles).
In order to make this appearance happen, the orioles optioned infielder Tyler Nevin to Norfolk and designated right-handed pitcher Denyi Reyes for assignment.
