Orioles' bullpen comes through for Buck in series finale

It wasn't the way Orioles manager Buck Showalter usually uses his bullpen – especially his late-inning lockdown arms – but the unconventional way he deployed his relievers in the Orioles' 6-2, 12-inning win was as effective nonetheless.

The Orioles' bullpen tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings in the victory, picking up their major-league leading 26th win in the process. But it was the sequence in which Showalter used his relievers that was notable.

He went to Darren O'Day in the sixth inning and O'Day tossed 1 1/3 innings. Then, after getting a scoreless inning from Brad Brach in the eighth, Showalter got two scoreless innings from closer Zach Britton in a tie game.
