The Orioles on Tuesday claimed left-hander Josh Osich off waivers from the San Francisco Giants, adding another southpaw reliever to their growing stable on the major league roster.
Osich, a former sixth-round pick of the Giants out of Oregon State, has pitched parts of the last four seasons in the majors for San Francisco but has struggled to replicate the 2.20 ERA he had in his rookie year of 2015.
In three subsequent seasons, his ERA climbed to 4.71, 6.23, and then 8.25, and the Giants designated him for assignment last week. Osich features a four-seam fastball that averaged 94.
